Consultation on a Borough-Wide Public Spaces Protection Order

Haringay Council has launched a consultation on the introduction of Borough Wide Public Space Protection Orders (PSPO).

An initial Co-design consultation with residents and other stakeholders took place during January 2024. The PSPO co-design project hosted workshops and an online survey to find out your priorities for PSPOs. This collaborative effort built on local intelligence gathered by our team and aligns with statutory requirements. The overwhelming feedback from the co-design process is:

the support for a borough wide PSPO to tackle issues of displacement.

to consider addressing a wider range of behaviours that negatively impacts residents’ quality of life.

We collated the online survey and workshop outputs along with a data-led evidence base, to create recommendations for a borough wide PSPO proposal. This new proposed order will allow us to impose restrictions and conditions across the whole of Haringey. our proposed Order would cover the entire borough of Haringey, addressing the following activities:

Alcohol-related anti-social behaviour and disorder

Consumption of drugs and possession of drugs paraphernalia

Public urination, defecation and spitting

Harassment, alarm, or distress

Dog fouling

Misuse of fireworks

Riding a bicycle, moped, e-scooter or e-bike on pavements in a manner

likely to cause obstruction, alarm, distress or annoyance or cause criminal damage.

How you can contribute

We are seeking your views on our proposal to implement a borough wide Public Spaces Protection Order. Your views are vital in helping us address anti-social behaviour and shaping a safer, more vibrant Haringey.

You can see the draft order and read the frequently asked questions (FAQs) document and complete the survey by visiting the council’s website https://new.haringey.gov.uk/proposed-borough-wide-pspo

Please take the time to read the FAQs document and then give us your views on our proposal by completing the online survey.

The consultation ends on Monday 17 June 2024

We are keen to reach as many stakeholders as possible, so please share the link with your networks.

Thank you in advance for your participation and helping us make a positive impact on our community.

Kind regards

Hi all,

I own a leasehold 1st floor flat on Gladstone avenue and we are looking to use our loft space for light storage (not full loft conversion). I suspect our lease doesn't actually contain the loft though we are the only ones with access to it. I was wondering if anyone here was in this situation and had obtained the demise of the lease for the loft space, and if so, if you could share your experience?

Thanks a lot!
